Mark Wong

Pianist

Mark Wong (he/they) is honored to be making his debut with ArtsSV as a pianist. Mark was born and raised in Malaysia and moved to the States when he was 19. Mark holds a Masters of Music in Piano Performance from San Jose State University, studying under Dr. Gwendolyn Mok. He also holds two Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Mark is an active member of the community theatre scene in the Bay Area.

Recent stage appearances include Opera San José’s Madama Butterfly (Opera chorus), Cabrillo Stage’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (“Ensemble, Anthony understudy, Beadle standby”) and South Bay Musical Theatre’s Urinetown (“Tiny Tom/Dr. Billeaux”). Mark was also the music and vocal director for West Valley Light Opera’s Pippin earlier this spring, and has helped out with rehearsals for numerous other community theatre productions. Mark has served as a guest pianist for multiple Opera San José’s events and is frequently involved in San José State University’s musical and opera productions.
